+ ideas: Home Offices/ Studios {Part 2}

.
.
Good morning, dear friends! We are still on the subject of home offices today, but before that, just like to say thank you for the warm comments and feedbacks on yesterday's post! So happy that you are enjoying the ideas and inspirations I'm sharing here!

Today, I'm back at my desk instead of lounging on the sofa in the living room. As expected, I am more efficient and disciplined when I'm seated at the table. It's work - work - work! My half eaten breakfast is at my elbow (ham, chicken and rockets on toasted rye - yummm!), and my coffee is making the room smell fab!

Before we start feasting our eyes and senses on more gorgeous home offices, I thought I'd share a few quick points on colour and lighting. We love colours, and pops of inspiring hues like Ada's office from yesterday's post really does make the space so full of character and personality. However, it is also quite common to go for white walls all over, allowing natural light to bounce off, and maybe helping you save a little on your electricity bill during the day. You can then bring in colours in the form of furnitures, desk and storage accessories, or prints and posters for the wall. Again, it is important to stick to what works for YOU!

Contemporary Minimalist vs. Modern Eclectic

+ This amazing office nook belongs to Anna Malin, a very creative and talented design blogger from Sweden. (I love love love her style, and hopefully, I'll be able to share more about her and her home with you sometime soon!) Anna Malin created a moodboard out of pictures of things which inspires her - the subtle colour palette she's selected is simply gorgeous! I am also loving her paper collection and they way she's displayed them, as well as the collage of other knick-knacks and accessories which all comes together so well in this little corner! As you can see, you don't need an entire room to create an inspiring space for yourself to work in - a little nook is more than enough! {Images by Anna Malin, via Helt Enkelt}

+ White on White/ Wood on White - there's a certain calmness to these white work spaces, making them just that extra more inspiring - like you can come up with the most amazing work just by being in these spaces! It could also be due to the clutter-free and well-organised styles they have adopted. If white is your thing, try playing around with shapes and textures to add interest to the composition. A touch of wood can also be a welcoming and warming factor! {Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6}

+ The eclectic style is one I am particularly fond of. It is fun to be able to combine pieces of different time and style, and be surprised by the outcome. To make the execution process a little easier, select pieces within similar colour tones so they don't clash too drastically; a white or neutral background helps too! Also, to keep the style a more contemporary end, try limiting the eclectic/retro/vintage pieces to two or three (especially within a small space), and mix them with newer or simpler-styled items, to prevent your space from looking over heavy. I am loving the vintage filing cabinet (first image, top left); and how amazing is that double height black and white studio space, belonging to designer Thomas O'Brien (image 4, center), where a floor lamp doesn't look out of place standing on cabinet?! { Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6}

Hope you'll once again these inspirations I've put together for you. Next round, I'll be sharing more collage and moodboard ideas for above your work desk, and some storage solutions to go with your home office! Please come back for more! And if you have thoughts to share, I'd love to hear from you!

If you missed yesterday's Home Offices/ Studios {Part 1}, catch up here.

Happy Friday, and have a good weekend ahead!

(ps. Update on my injured right index finger - it earned me 2 nights off in the kitchen, how cool is that!? I'm back to full speed typing today, which is great!)\
