+ loving: The Green House - An Art Installation

I love art installations, especially the ones which employ the use of optical illusions and plays with your eyes.

The Green House by Korean artist Kyung Woo Han is simply amazing - the furniture pieces are made to look like they are floating in a pool!

Soles For The Boys

Good morning dear friends! Happy Friday! What are your plans this weekend?

I thought it's about time we give the boys some attention... So here's a selection of some of the new soles which have been making the rounds of late. Enjoy!!

Nike Dunk Ac Vintage Spring 2011, featuring treated rubber soles for a throwback feel with suede upper and vintage tongue style (via Hypebeast).

Alexander McQueen x Puma Twisted Leather Hi-top - an eccentric take on the trusty high-top, with side panels of elephant grey uppers sliced into strips, explosing the shoe's lemon sateen lining (via Sneaker Freaker).
Hussein Chalayan x Puma Urban Mobility - bridges fashion with performance. Puma's Urban Mobility Collection is a forward thinking exploration of mobile life in the modern city; Chalayan's clean and sophisticated design complements the ethos perfectly (via Sneaker Freaker).

Yohji Smith (Adidas for Yohji Yamamoto) is part of the special project celebrating 10 years of collaboration between the two brands. Yohji Smith bears the elements for their first ever collection back in 2001, in tones of red and black with a wrap-around upper design in black canvas with a TPU overlay around the body and suede accents on the tow and heel. Produced in limited numbers of 300 pairs (via Hypebeast).
Porter x Adidas Superstar - another teamed up product with Japan's renowned Yoshida Porter luggage company, this time decked out in swishy black nylon and burnt orange lining (from their famous Tanker line of bags), with an easy access zipper running alongside the eyelets (via Sneaker Freaker).
Adidas x Limited Edt Rod Laver (Tron) has textured gridlines printed in glow-in-the-dark ink, giving the humble tennis shoe a striking kinetic makeover (via Sneaker Freaker).

Have a fabulous weekend!

+ loving: Converse x Marimekko

I'm sure I've mentioned before that I'm not much of a sneakers person. The previous week, I endured blisters, chaffed skin and sore soles from walking in ballet flats and sandals rather than give in to a pair of sneakers. My argument is that I have yet find a pair that absolutely matches my style.

But looking at these from Converse x Marimekko, I just might change my mind! I love Marimekko's prints and designs; there's also a short video clip about them, and their collaboration with Converse.

The fact that each pair comes with their own matching bag only makes them more irresistible! Now, which one should I get...?

+ inspired by: Marginal Notes by Note Design Studio

There is nothing like a project that's born with a good story behind. At times, the concept can be much more powerful and meaningful than the result itself, and in turn lends extra value to the end product.

That was what came to mind when I first read about Note Design Studio's Marginal Notes series.

The Marginal Notes series came about when, one morning, the team at Note Design Studio (a Stockholm based design company) decided to let go of all ideas on strategy and simply let themselves "play" for a bit. Flipping through their notebooks, they started looking at the scribbles and doodles at the edge of their pages - those that appear out of boredom maybe, or from intuition; seemingly direction-less and meaningless.

"We fell in love with the scribbles and embraced their odd proportions, diverse materials and lack of clever functions. Some were left for later but others were pushed further, into the physical world. Among prototypes and sketches we also developed some half-time forms; early seeds that influenced later objects. These not yet functionally defined forms acted as catalysts throughout the process. In the end it became an exhibition. Maybe it will give you some new ideas."

"TOMORROW ISLAND/YESTERDAY ISLAND:
lamps The Diomede Islands are located in the middle of the Bering Strait between Alaska and Siberia, and their awkward man-made separation inspired us. The islands are sometimes called Tomorrow Island (Big Diomede, Russian territory) and Yesterday Island (Little Diomede, U.S. territory) because the time difference between them is 20 hours, but the distance only three kilometres."

"HALF-TIME OBJECTS:
Among prototypes and sketches we also developed some half–time forms; early seeds that influenced later objects. These not yet functionally defined forms acted as catalysts throughout the process."

"BOOP: sofa, chair and lounge chair
1. boop: The mystery of the boop shall never be revealed. But when saying "Boop" you must poke a random person on the nose. 2. boop: To poke an animal or something cute on the nose."

Once again, I love the concept, and the amount of thought that has been put into each of these products. To see more, hop over to here, or visit Note Design's Facebook page.

Sometimes, a really clever idea can strike just when you stop trying too hard, don't you think?

+ meet 'n greet: Plasterdoll

Good morning dear all!

I am very excited to share with you today an exclusive interview with a very special fashionista: Summer, the Plasterdoll! She is cute and adorable, with a larger than normal head, and has fabulous dress sense (she is a fashion model in the doll world, after all!).

I met up with Summer over coffee, and we chat a little about her favourite things, what's it like to be doll in the fashion world, her thoughts on trends and styles, her blogging; she even offered me a peek into her bag! She is really fun and easy to talk to, and so "human" - if you get what I mean!! And I am very happy to have the opportunity to feature her here.

Read on, and I'm sure you'd find reasons to love Plasterdoll too!

+ Tell us something about yourself...
My name is Summer and I’m a Plasterdoll. In case you don’t already know about Plasterdoll, we are dolls with larger-than-normal head, with a plaster or bandaid on our forehead all the time, because that’s just how clumsy we are, with our big head!
I’m a fashion model in the Plasterdoll world, and have done quite a number of “fashion shoots” (I think some humans call it “fashion illustrations”) for well-know designers.
When I’m not working, I like to blog. My blog is where I share with people pictures from my fashion shoots, as well as my personal style, and some occasional “fashion projects” like my recent “Style Blogger series” where I did a “look-alike” of some popular fashion bloggers. My blog is like an avenue for me to reach out to human out there! :)

+ What's the best part about being a fashion model in the Plasterdoll world?
The best part is definitely being able to see myself in styles that I may not have tried otherwise, and to let others create different looks on me.

+ You’ve done quite a number of fashion shoots. Do you have a favourite?
My favourite one has got to be one of my recent “Style Blogger series” where I was styled and photographed as two of my favourite bloggers, The Cherry Blossom Girl and Miss Pandora. I love this because I managed to pull off two different looks to resemble the gorgeous ladies.

+ What does fashion means to you, and how would you define your style?
I like to see fashion as a way to express myself in terms of my personality, and to some extent my moods. My style is both Classic and Summery - just like my name!!

+ What's the newest addition to your wardrobe this season?
Lanvin for H&M’s red chandelier necklace! I love it because it looks good with almost anything, and I can dress up and down with it.

+ What do you wear on your day offs?
I like to look casual on my day offs, but that doesn’t mean I spend less time styling myself!
I like pairing a pair of tailored shorts with fancy tops or blouses with statement accessories, and I do the same if I feel like stepping out in my skinny jeans. If I'm in summer dresses I would usually pair them with comfortable sandals. A fashionista can never be seen sloppy!

+ Do you have a favourite scent?
Oh yes! E'Clat D'Arpege by Lanvin for everyday and anytime, and Sheer Stella by Stella McCartney for night.

+ Who's playing on your iPod?
Right now, it’s Katy Perry’s "Teenage Dream".

+ On a warm summer day, you'll find me...
Sipping watermelon juice sunbathing by the pool.

+ A peek into your handbag...
iPhone, Moleskin, Wallet, Lipstick, Lipbalm, Hair Brush, Sunnies, Foundation, and Plasters (!!!) - of course!

It was a fantastic experience to have met up with Summer, and I hope you've enjoyed the little interview too! For more Plasterdoll, hop over to her blog. Her fashion-shoot prints are also available for sale over at her Etsy shop.

+ coffee with: A Sneak Preview!

Page Thirteen will be hosting an exclusive interview with a very special guest tomorrow!

If you love fashion, graphics and prints, you won't want to miss this one! Make sure you drop by tomorrow and find out who will be making an appearance here!

+ inspired by: Lyndsay and Fitzhugh's 5th Street Town House

This lovely town house on 5th Street, home to Lyndsay and Fitzhugh, is one of the first projects by The Brooklyn Home Company.

I love how the home is flooded with natural light from huge double hung windows, while the clever and tasteful mixture of vintage and modern lend a warm and cosy character to the entire place.

Rustic and natural wood, such as the original exposed ceiling beams and the reclaimed shelving in the kitchen, also contrasts beautifully against the white ambiance.

I happen to like white floorboards too!

+ loving: Urbanears

Hello again! I just had to get this one more post up before the weekend, because they are too deliciously yummy to resist!

Across the urban landscape, how many individuals are plugged in to their iPods and mp3s, surrounding themselves with the tunes of their hearts - and why not express that with an extra dash of color which brings out your personality?

If you've enjoyed the AIAIAI Tracks Headsets I blogged about yesterday, you would love this one: Urbanears Headphones.

A Stockholm based company, Urbanears is made up of a collective group of individuals from different backgrounds, but hold the same believe in the concept of producing headphones with an in depth understanding and respect of how they are used and why. For them, design is the transformation of functionality to the human being, and beyond the obvious sound quality, they hold a vision of making headphones that felt more like clothes than plastics, which the users would feel good to wear in public spaces.

I love their vision and concepts! It is about being different, not conforming to the norm, and taking something relatively mundane and functional, and putting a kick of individuality to it - fantastic!

Urbanears recently launched their 2011 Spring/Summer collection, and the styling and photography is absolutely superb! (I tried researching a little on the photographer/stylist, but did not manage to secure a name - if you know who is responsible for this creatively awesome composition, please let me know!)

Sighs and drools... Enjoy, and have a great weekend!

+ play dress up: Anthropologie

Good morning all! Happy Friday! I hope you're looking forward to a fabulous and restful weekend. It's wet and drizzly here in Adelaide, but I won't let a little rain dampen my mood!

I'm trying out a new fashion series "+ play dress up". Remember how we used to play dress up when we were kids? And you know how you get the feeling when browsing through racks of gorgeous clothes at the shops, or online, thinking to yourself - how nice if I could have this...? Well, I'm putting the childhood memory and the (somewhat repressed) shopaholic desire together into this little project, because, although we know we can't have everything, we still love beautiful stuffs, and it's just nice to see them put together!

I hope you'll enjoy this series, and it'll become a permanent if the response is good. I can even help you pick outfits for a certain special occasion! Just drop me a mail and we'll go shopping! Wheeee!

(ps. Boys, don't fret, with help from Ally, I'll have something perfect for you too! So do drop by for more!)

Today, we shopped at Anthropologie. The Paraiso Dress paired with Lemon Stick Wedges is perfect for a brunch date in the city; slip into some Salutations & Closings Heels and a pair of very cute Daisies At The Disco Drops earrings you're ready to rock the night! Adorable!

Hopefully this will help inspire your outfits for the weekend! Happy dress up!

Kate Williams and Hugo Murray, Washington Street.

Downtown From Behind is an inspiring photographic project with the underlying message of sustainability and a greener environment, represented through pictures (and films) of subjects riding their bike from behind, on every street, lane and avenue below 14th in New York City.

Each subject is captured in an environmental portrait between him/her and the street. The goal is to highlight these unique and dynamic individuals who have had an impact on downtown New York, making it what it is today. Subjects photographed today includes designers, musicians, artists, academics, restauranter, entrepreneurs, hoteliers, academics and celebrity activists.

Inspiring and creative! And I love the shot of Allison Beale on Center Street on a snowy day - it couldn't have been easy, but her smile was brilliant!

+ loving: Nooka Yogurt by Karim Rashid

Hey there! I'm trying to catch up on my posts... and here's more yummy food-inspired products!

Yogurt by Karim Rashid is Nooka's first circular design series. Made of soft and flexible polyurethane, the watch's display incorporates digital hexagons, with the hour in the middle and the minutes circling on the outside.

I love that they come in delicious flavours, such as Non Fat, Blueberry, Raspberry and Lime Green. Yumms! To have a closer look, go here.

+ loving: AIAIAI Tracks Headsets

Yukkiie described these headsets as sweet macaroons for the ears, and I couldn't agree more!

Tracks Headphone series (headphones and headphones with microphones) is a collaboration with Kilo Design, inspired by the function and design of the old iconic walkman headphone.

Absolutely funky and cool! I'll have one of each, please - oh, and the macaroons too!
