Good morning dear friends, and Happy Thursday! As promised, the last part of the 25hours Hotels feature - enjoy!
In the hub of Vienna's young and creative 7th district, the 25hours Hotel Wein stands out as an eclectic, extravagant spectacle of circus inspired fantasy world. Guests and visitors are invited into an exotic and imaginative place where they can take on a temporary character and immerse themselves in this slightly bizarre space which mirrors the city itself.
Positioned amongst a mix of modern and Baroque architectures, the 25hours Hotel Wein's conceptual inspiration is derived from the early 20th century's golden age of the circus. From the hotel's huge green glass rooftop bar, to the colorful expressions on the walls by Germany's best-known illustrators Olaf Hajek; from the sawdust speckled velvet curtains to the decorative typographies and carefully selected memorabilia from the circus ring - these spaces creates a play through the obscuring of space and time, fantasy and reality.
“We like to tell stories. I don’t know if they are real, but I don’t want to know. Even if in the end you are left with the feeling that a story is not really true, there is always a little piece of truth in it.” - Ardi Goldman (via Design Hotels)And finally, the latest addition to the 25hours Hotel family, the 25hours Hotel Zurich in Switzerland, which will open its doors in October 2012. Set in the industrial area of Zurich West, a refurbished cultural zone hosting restaurants, nightlife, eclectic shopping and galleries, like most the hotels within the family, 25hours Hotel Zurich is also designed with the concept to reflect its surrounding's history and stories.
One unique idea I particularly enjoy of the concept is one where award-winning interior designer Alfredo Häberli scribbled his personal city recommendations on surfaces and objects throughout the hotel, encouraging guests to visit his favourite hotspots. What a lovely and charming way of paying tribute to the city, and bringing it into the spaces of the hotel! Can't wait to see more of it when its ready!
